Ishwaryam Goodness : Breaking Beauty Stereotypes

“Why not create a product that celebrates all skin tones, for women and men?” It was this simple, yet egalatarian idea that sparked the birth of Ishwaryam Goodness. Founders Yamini and Madhu, childhood friends turned entrepreneurs, converted their shared frustrations with societal beauty standards into a thriving skincare brand.

From Small Talk to Big Impact

Picture this: two friends, Yamini and Madhu, sitting together as students, talking about how often people worry about their skin color. These weren’t just passing conversations-they hit home. Yamini, with her dusky skin, had experienced firsthand how beauty standards could make you feel invisible. Madhu had her own battles, dealing with skin concerns and the unwelcome attention that came with them. “Why can’t we just love the skin we’re in?” they wondered.

That thought sparked something much bigger. From a college dream in 2018, Ishwaryam Goodness was born, a skincare brand that stood for confidence.

From Friends to Founders

Yamini and Madhu’s bond goes way back to their school days. Though life took them to different colleges, they reunited in the best way possible – by building something meaningful together.

With no background in chemistry, the duo teamed up with a professional chemist to develop safe, effective products. They spent years learning, researching, and fine tuning their formulations before finally launching their handmade soaps in 2022. “We wanted to truly understand what went into the products,” says Yamini.

A Vision That’s as Unique as Their Packaging

Here’s where it gets really exciting. Each product’s packaging features illustrations of diverse Indian skin tones, something no Indian skincare brand had done before. “We wanted people to feel represented the moment they picked up our products,” says Madhu. Their illustrations of diverse skin tones, sends a loud and clear message that beauty has no shade chart. They believe that skincare isn’t about changing who you are; it’s about taking care of yourself, and letting your natural beauty shine.

Freshness, Quality, and a Whole Lot of Heart

Yamini and Madhu believe that skincare products should be as fresh and natural as the ingredients they’re made from. That’s why Ishwaryam Goodness operates on a small-batch production model. “Unlike mass-produced items sitting on shelves for months, our products are freshly made to retain their potency,” explains Yamini.

Their best sellers? The Red Wine Soap, which grabs attention with its exotic appeal, and the Cucu and Aloe Lotion, a lightweight, fast absorbing product that feels like a cool splash of hydration for your skin.

Stumbles That Turned Into Stepping Stones

Starting out wasn’t easy. At first, they tried launching multiple products at once, only to realize they were spreading themselves too thin. “It’s not about having a hundred products, it’s about focusing on the ones that truly make an impact,” shares Madhu. This led them to double down on their signature offerings, which quickly gained a loyal following.

Equal Attention to Women & Men

Ishwaryam Goodness isn’t just a brand but a platform for empowerment as well. Their team of five is made up entirely of women, many of whom are returning to work after career breaks. “We wanted to create a space where women could rebuild their confidence and careers,” says Yamini. Their all-women team is now the backbone of the company’s operations. This skincare brand was about creating a shift in how people saw themselves. And and since skincare isn’t just a women’s thing their products focus on men too. Their gender-neutral branding is a refreshing change in an industry often skewed toward one audience.

What’s next?

Looking ahead, Yamini and Madhu are clear about their goal – to replace mainstream FMCG brands with their natural, handmade alternatives.

At the heart of Ishwaryam Goodness is a simple yet profound belief: beauty isn’t defined by skin tone. It’s defined by self-love, confidence, and the way you care for yourself and others. Through fresh, carefully crafted products, Yamini and Madhu are building a movement. One that says, “Every skin tone is beautiful. Every person is worthy. And the best thing you can wear is confidence.”

So, next time you pick up a bar of their Red Wine Soap or dab on some of their Cucu Aloe Lotion, remember – you’re not just treating your skin. You’re part of a story that’s changing the way we see beauty!
